Well Elly’s presentation just ended and despite getting the award for longest overrun of the day, I thought it was fabulous, yea I’m biased but no one left for the whole thing (that I noticed anyway) and there was a large round of applause. So congratulations sweetie. :)

For those that weren’t here I will be uploading a movie to youtube once I work out how to do that, I’ll place a link here once I have done that. I wasn’t the only one recording it either, Donncha was using his macbook to record as well. So I’ll link to his as well once it’s available.

A large part of Elly’s presentation was to do with a particular blog and Audiocast this one. Elly will also be posting her presentation later so I will link that as well.

Once again, congratulations sweetie :D

*update* You tube didn’t like the length of the video so Elly uploaded to blipTV instead. :) the movie below starts the presentation and Dooncha’s recording (see link above) follows on from where I ran out of memory on my camera :( (sounds like an excuse for bigger memory cards :D )

What the hell are microformats? I have no idea but hopeful by the end of this talk I’ll know a bit more. ;) Ok this sounds promising it’s all about adding relevance to your content. So they are easy conventions for marking up data on the web, standards for the web if you will like. The vcard’s we all get on e-mail, with the end goal of having this information ala drag n drop from a webpage to your contact list, calendar, etc.

So maybe the vcard example isn’t the best but if your looking at a concert listing, you’ve just ordered the tickets, and then you open your calendar and re-enter all the data, just think if you could drag n drop that info straight to your calendar…

A great example of a microformat is XFN this tracks relationships between people so if you have a list of delegates at a conference you can use this way to see the “seven degree’s of separation” and work out very quickly who you need to talk to get an introduction to whoever you want to meet. Jaysus getting to meet the beautiful people has never been so easy :D

Lee at night

So we drove to Cork this afternoon, yup Lucan to Cork on a friday afternoon, the journey can be best described as sauntering, we got checked into our hotel and headed out to try and meet up with a few people although we hadn’t let anyone know we would be about.

So it was about 8pm when we left the hotel. We walked around Cork from MacCurtain st. to “The thirsty Scholar” but no luck meeting any other campers. Ah well, I got to wander around Cork for the first time in over 20 years that I wasn’t there on business and I have to say there was a fantastic “vibe” about the city, maybe it was all the students on the street or the smell of fresh pizza dough in the air but it reminded me of the electricity that was in the air in the Temple bar of the late eighties and early nineties, before it was “improved”

On the way back to the hotel I snapped the picture above with the compact camera. I’m stunned that it even picked up the light but not as stunned as how steady my hand was for a long exposure, especially considering I have had one or two :D

I can’t wait to get out around this fantastic city with the 5200, I saw some gorgeous pictures just waiting to be taken. ;)

So F1, whats been happening since Monza, where as we all know once again the evil FIA ganged up with that evil german and well those guys wot build the evil cars, you know they’re red like the Devil for god’s sake. :D

Well that’s what some people would have us believe anyway. After all the commotion in Monza, I’m so disappointed in the mainstream F1 press they all wanted to say it but none of them would. You wonder why? I did but then I realised there just trying to make a story where there isn’t one, yup that’s it if enough people start to believe a story then it starts to take on a momentum of it’s own it creates it’s own smoke so there has to be a fire right?

Fair play to Fernando and Flavio they said what was on there mind Flav more than Fernando who just seemed to think F1 isn’t a sport anymore. Then again Flav retracted Fernando didn’t and infact has gone considerably further since.

I know Alonso is the youngest world champion in the history of the sport but what does he hope to achieve by slagging off the most successful driver in the history of the sport? that’s not going to win you the championship only keeping a calm head and scoring points will do that, not driving beyond the limits of your car until the engine explodes or whinging into the radio or sideswiping a friday test driver at high speed before brake testing him.

Schuey has his history too as so many people have been quick to point out since Monaco, but for some reason the media are blinkered to Alonso‘s wrong doing’s and very quick to point to Schuey’s past indiscretions at every available opportunity. Yet very quick to forget that schuey has been penalised severely in the past as well, both on and off the track.

Well whatever Alonso and flav had hoped to achieve by there actions at Monza what they did achieve was a clarification of the “blocking” rule in F1 although you can tell by the tone that the FIA aren’t happy about the way these 2 conducted themselves. I really am surprised that neither have been pulled up for bringing the sport into disrepute.

I think there are 2 thing’s Fernando needs to learn from what has happened at and since Monza.

  1. You’ll never win an argument with the referee
  2. If you wanna have a bitch about a competitor get your manager to do it for you :)

Still it’s nice to know the fans have more sense than to listen to the media and have made there own minds up by voting Schuey and Ferrari there favourite by a country mile.

Howdy all, we gotta temporary new look ’round here, while I get ta fixen the IE problems with the regular look and makin one or 2 improvements.

In the meantime, my apologies if things ain’t in all the right places, but we’ll be back to normal in no time, so hang in there ;)
