It’s true, just ask Elly. So when I realised that I needed to update my wardrobe a bit for the impending honeymoon, I got into my usual sulk at the thoughts of what was in store.

Still at least this time I don’t have to go looking for T-shirts as well, thanks to T-Shirt Hell. I have ordered off them before to check the size and quality etc. so I just logged in and bought a load of great T’s in no time. Job done. Well, except for the trousers, shoes, Shirts and Jackets that I apparently “need” :p

There are some designs on there site that I would never wear for obvious taste reasons, (in fact some would say they are not suitable for public consumption) but they are all funny and they’re great quality T’s as well.

Still it got me to thinking about which of T-shirt hell’s shirts would most suit my favourite ‘local’ blogger.

Talk Nerdy to me or how about I'll be using these to my advantage

and finally, the one that I think is probably gonna get me in trouble ;)

If I had ...

So have I got it right or have I just seriously insulted my new wife? time and the comments will tell :)

If there was a medal of honour for support then LouderVoice should have it.

Earlier today, I signed up to use the LouderVoice review service. The signup was one of the best I’ve used, uncomplicated and friendly, but I digress.

So I posted my first review and felt all proud of myself for achieving another blog post in the weekend. :)

Unfortunatly there is an issue with Wordpress that can cause difficulties for LouderVoice. I was completely unaware of this issue and because it displayed fine in my blog I didn’t think to check LouderVoice.

A few minutes later Elly mentions that she’s forwarding me an e-mail to me, so I checked my mail and it’s from LouderVoice’s own Conor letting me know all about the issue (I won’t bore you with the details but there’s a brief summary in the comments on this post), what to change in Wordpress’s options and the correct code to edit into the post.

It’s a sunday afternoon around lunchtime and Conor is sending me tech support I didn’t even know that I needed :) That’s support above and beyond the call of duty and deserves to be acknowledged.

It was only yesterday I was posting about how frustrating it can be when the technology just doesn’t work the way you expect and today someone jumps into help me out when exactly that happened. Hmmm have I found someone who actually reads my blog? :O

Thanks for the help Conor, much appreciated. :)

The Simpsons Movie

My expectations were high, the movie was good, not great and the fact that all the best jokes are shown in the many trailers, really takes the punch out of the movie. Still it is worth the price of admission.

Last Friday night myself the wife and a few friends and collegues headed out to see The Simpsons movie. The trailers we’ve all seen on television all gave me a laugh so it was only natural to go see the movie.

The film was a laugh from start to finish, there was a little bit of a lag in the middle of the film, which was just as well, we all need time to munch the popcorn and slurp on the ‘Big gulp’. :)

The story, for me wasn’t enough to carry the movie, the jokes were not enough to carry the movie, but somehow, all together, it works.

In my opinion, this movie missed the oppurtunity to do to animated movies what it did for Animated TV Series when it started all those years ago. Lets not forget The Simpsons paved the way for other shows, Futurama, Family Guy & American Dad to name a few. These shows owe a dept to Matt Groening and The Simpsons.

This first movie, in what one can expect to be a string of sequels, has two issues the sequels will have to deal with. The first is the weight of expectations, mine will not be as high for the next movie. The second is completely at the mercy of the marketing department, don’t show all the funniest jokes from the movie in your trailers, it left me feeling cheap and used! :)

This is a good movie, I will be going to see the inevitable sequels but I won’t expect to see anything more than an extended episode of a funny animated TV show.

Yup, that’s how I feel about it right now. I spent some time with my blog today for the first time in ages. I upgraded to the latest version, installed a few plug-ins. I also tried to sort out my sidebar issues again, I had hoped that the upgrade might fix it for me but alas no :(

So I’ve been investigating and it seems that there is something in certain posts that is causing the sidebars to vanish from the page. There are a few common threads with these posts…

  1. They were all written in Wordpress “rich text editor”
  2. They all contain images
  3. They were all saved as drafts and edited over an number of sittings

For now I’m just not going to use the Rich text editor, hopefully as I post more and the effected posts move off the front page the issue will become less prominent. I guess I’ll just have to live with it, until I work out whats causing it.

On the upside, the new plug-ins mean people can now digg my posts if they feel the need and I have some added colour thanks to the images feed. The new category cloud in the sidebar looks so much better than that horrible mess that I used to have and I finally have a functioning Spell-checker, I’m sure I’ll hear all about it if it’s not up to the task :)

It’s one of those things that bugs me about technology at times, it’s just not as simple as we’d like it to be. There’s a lot more going on with modern technology than most of us realise and it just doesn’t always do what we expect or want it to. That said It’s great to have the technology working for us… most of the time anyway. ;)

oh jaysus, I’ve read about some weird/tasteless product idea’s in my time but this doesn’t just take the biscuit, it takes the pack, the box the pack came in, the delivery truck, the factory and the farmers that grew the grain.

Thanks Anthony… I think :)
