So seeing as how this blog hasn’t been updated in a while, I decided it was probably time to give it a wee bit of an overhaul.

So, I’ve upgraded WordPress and some of the plugins, I’ve even installed Donncha‘s Wp Super Cache Plugin. but there’s more to come. so long as what I’ve done doesn’t explode first, Fingers crossed then.

Yes, it’s one of those posts. A couple of links to stuff that I thought was funny today and not a lot else.

So without further ado, first up is a post over on Holy Schmoley! A great little video, takin the mickey out of those God awful ‘I’m a Mac’ ads. I love a mac user that’s prepared to poke fun at ‘The Almighty Steve’

My Sweetie poped this little gem in her Google reader shared items feed for me. Thank you sweetie! Maybe I should do the same?

And finally, The ever classic Penny Arcade produced a great new strip today. Takin a wild guess, I’d say they ain’t to keen on the PS3.

I’m posting about Top Gear again but this post has more to do with why respect for America has fallen, in recent years. This isn’t America bashing, it’s an observation, no more.

Anyway, what the hell am I talking about?

Well last weekend’s Top Gear had what I considered to be the single most obvious example of everything that is wrong in American society today. Yes, I’m talking about the Gas Station incident, if you haven’t seen it then have a look at Donncha’s post about it, it’s even got the relevant footage embedded. (must learn how to do that myself) I’ll wait for ye.

Now, as TV entertainment goes I agree with Donncha, pure comedy! Only cause I wasn’t one of the people in serious danger, if I was, there probably would have been a “brown” oil slick behind my car

James May posted about it as well on the Top Gear blog and it seems he almost blames himself for what happened. Please don’t accept responsibility for someone else’s bigotry and ignorance.

The people in that clip, showed the audience exactly what a clichéd southern American is. These are the same people who would say they believe in the great American dream of freedom and equality etc. the same people who support the “wars” in Afghanistan and Iraq because they are bringing freedom to the middle east and the rest of the world.

Yet when they are confronted with 3 British men enjoying the “freedom” of having a bit of a laugh, the response is to “call the boys” to beat the tar out of them. Am I the only person who sees the hypocrisy in this?

America fights for and defends your freedom, that’s the freedom to follow the herd and not deviate from their “norm” so this is this what America has become? The land of the free and the home of those brave enough to threaten and scare 3 men from the other side of the planet, for having a bit of a laugh?

Well Elly’s presentation just ended and despite getting the award for longest overrun of the day, I thought it was fabulous, yea I’m biased but no one left for the whole thing (that I noticed anyway) and there was a large round of applause. So congratulations sweetie.

For those that weren’t here I will be uploading a movie to youtube once I work out how to do that, I’ll place a link here once I have done that. I wasn’t the only one recording it either, Donncha was using his macbook to record as well. So I’ll link to his as well once it’s available.

A large part of Elly’s presentation was to do with a particular blog and Audiocast this one. Elly will also be posting her presentation later so I will link that as well.

I’ve been meaning to blog this all week. I can’t actually remember where I got the link that led me to James’s Blog, (might have been one of Donncha’s comments, guess I should make better notes) but this post has info my sweetie will love.
